Maple Syrup Demonstration at Journey's End Farm

Experience an operational sugarbush operation on a protected property

Place: Journey's End Farm

Visit a local working farm with an operational sugarbush producing 350 gallons of syrup a year with a wood fired evaporator. Learn about the sugaring operation, the farm, and the protection of the land. Light refreshments available. Participants are asked to be prepared for walking through muddy conditions. Please register with the Conservancy to receive directions to the site and notification if the program is cancelled due to weather online, by phone (570-226-3164), or by email conserve@delawarehighlands.org.

The great poet Emily Dickinson loved wildflowers, especially the delicate blooms of March and April.  Her quiet life in 19th century Amherst Massachusetts was described by a friend as follows:  "Her events were the coming of the first bird, the bursting of a chrysalis...the wondering opening on the new world of every little flower."    Join naturalist Ed Wesely for a virtual tour of the fields and streams that Emily Dickinson knew around Amherst, and of the spring wildflowers that inspired her. Land Use Training Workshop

Join the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, Sullivan Renaissance and the Sullivan County Division of Planning and Environmental Management for a 3 session training workshop to be held at the Cable Vision Industries Building in Ferndale, Sullivan County, NY. The workshop will focus on overlay districts, water quality and storm water management and Land Use legal issues. The workshop is directed towards municipal officials and anyone interested in learning more about land use techniques and issues. Planning and Zoning Board Members may receive 4.5 credits towards the required NYS training credits (please check with your municipality). Prior registration is required. Monarch Butterfly Program with Ed Wesely

Come and learn about the monarch life cycle and help to tag early migrants.

Since 1996 Ed Wesely and Barbara Yeaman have rescued Monarch butterfly eggs and caterpillars from threatened habitats and reared them in the Butterfly Barn. With the help of local school children, they’ve nurtured and released almost 3,000 adult monarchs.   Come and learn about the monarch life cycle and help to tag early migrants.
