Katherine (Kate) formed a love and deep respect for natural beauty as a very young girl vacationing on the rocky coast of Maine with her family. Her mother taught her to appreciate long quiet walks in the woods, and her father taught her to paint the seascapes. She attended Boston University and graduated Tyler School of Art with a BFA.
Kate has lived around the country as well as around the world following her husband’s career. The most extraordinary years were spent in Shanghai, China where she worked with a global group recognized by the United Nations. While in Shanghai, Kate became President of the American Woman’s Club Shanghai, and also served as liaison for the USA Pavilion for World Expo 2010. Linking cultures, learning languages, and developing international programs were rewarding tasks. Kate said, “From the coast of New England, to the steamy Louisiana bayou, to the shiny city of Chicago around to the opposite side of the globe, sharing a connection between art & nature has been my continuous thread.”
Kate is a new resident to Wayne County, PA after purchasing a home with her husband on Lake Wallenpaupack in 2015. They also maintain a family home in Chester County, PA where she enjoys involvement with the Brandywine River Museum of Art as a trained docent. Kate’s hobbies include daily walks, and creating with natural material and fiber art. Kate is delighted to be a new member of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy, and looks forward to representing the vast membership in the years ahead.
