Louise Washer

Louise graduated from Smith College in 1985 and worked for a decade as a magazine editor and writer in New York and eventually Connecticut. In 2010 in Connecticut, she joined the board of the Norwalk River Watershed Association, where she currently serves as president. She also serves on the Norwalk Mayor’s Water Quality Committee and the Hudson to Housatonic Regional Conservation Partnership (H2H). In 2017, she helped create the Pollinator Pathway, a grassroots effort to encourage residents and municipalities to restore and connect pollinator habitat by planting native plants, avoiding pesticides, and rethinking lawn culture. The Pollinator Pathway has grown to include over 325 communities across 11 states, including Pennsylvania and New York.

Louise and her family built a house down the street from Barbara Yeaman on River Road near Milanville, PA in 1990, and they have been part-time residents since. Louise has been a member of Delaware Highlands Conservancy since its beginning, and in 2021 joined its Land Protection Committee and in 2023 the Board of Directors. She is excited to be getting more involved in conservation in the Upper Delaware region.
