Board of Directors
Barbara Cuffe
Vice President
Barbara Cuffe graduated from CUNY Hunter College in 1979 with a B.S. degree in Physical Therapy, and from Shenandoah University in 2007, receiving a Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T.) degree. She began her career working in hospital settings, and in 1984 ventured into private practice. As a physical therapist in private practice, her primary focus was the treatment of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic pathologies. In addition to patient care, her responsibilities included business administration, staff management and marketing strategies for patients, physicians and the community. In partnership with her husband, Gerry, their practice grew to include multiple offices in the upper Hudson Valley of New York. After a long and rewarding career as a private practitioner, Barbara retired in 2017.
In anticipation of retirement and with a love of this region, Barbara and Gerry purchased a home in Hawley in 2015, becoming full-time residents in 2017. Barbara has lifelong experiences in the outdoors, including walking, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, kayaking and fishing. Her outdoor experiences have imbued her with a deep appreciation and respect for our environment and our natural resources; this lead her to volunteer with the Conservancy in 2017. Barbara is looking forward to serving the Conservancy as a member of the Board and as chair of the Eagle Conservation Committee.
