Community Garden Workday at the Van Scott Nature Reserve

June 7 • 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The entrance of the Van Scott Nature Reserve with a sign, red barn and silos, and the farmhouse that is the office headquarters.

Join us at the Van Scott Nature Reserve for our very first Community Garden Workday! Delaware Highlands Conservancy is excited to begin creating a new community garden space at the Reserve, and this workday will focus on preparing the site for planting and community use.

We are looking for 5-10 volunteers to help with tasks such as clearing the fence line, cleaning up debris, and laying the groundwork for a shared growing space. While volunteering, you’ll learn about the Conservancy’s vision for the garden, and gain valuable tips for preparing your own garden this growing season from representatives of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County.

The garden site is in a full-sun area. Be sure to bring sun protection (hat, sunscreen), insect repellent, and a refillable water bottle. Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty (long-sleeve recommended). Work gloves will be provided. Please pack a lunch.
