Design and Grow: Permaculture with Maria Grimaldi

We’re thrilled to launch our new program series: Design and Grow, Forage, and Create! In this three-part series, you’ll learn how to design and grow a sustainable garden, explore the world of medicinal plants, and discover how to create practical items using what you can grow or forage.
Participants may register for individual sessions or sign up for the full series. As a special bonus, participants who join all three programs will receive a Wildflower Guide by Lawrence Newcomb!

Join Maria Grimaldi, Garden and Permaculture Consultant, to learn to use permaculture principles to design a livable environment using sector and zone analysis. Participants will produce a rough sketch and design plan.
The Grow portion will focus on the elements necessary for plants to grow successfully, including site analysis for sun, shade, soil, and water, along with a discussion of the variety of methods used to grow plants.
Space is limited for the workshop and advance registration is required. Event fee is $10 for Conservancy members and $15 for non-members. This program is intended for adults. Program will be indoors.
Maria Grimaldi has over 30 years’ experience in environmental design. She finds pleasure and purpose guiding people in designing their personal outdoor spaces in harmony with nature through firsthand workshops. Maria has worked as an educator with the Horticultural Society of NY, the New York Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of NY (NOFA-NY). She is a Certified Permaculture Instructor by Bill Mollison, the Australian inventor of the term Permaculture.
