Women and Their Woods Retreat

Women forest landowners and aspiring landowners from across the mid-Atlantic region are invited to learn about forest stewardship, build confidence in managing their woods, and connect with others in a friendly, peer-learning environment. Join us for a dynamic and fun retreat designed to help you navigate the challenges and rewards of forestland ownership.

Space at the retreat is limited and registration is due by August 30, 2026.

  • 9am – Map Exercise: Setting Goals and Objectives with Jen Campbell
  • 10am-12pm – Species Identification and Forest Ecology with Alicia Hanson from Wayne County Conservation District
  • 12pm – Lunch; Solar Energy On Your Land Q&A with Jack Barnett
  • 1pm-4pm – Chainsaw Safety Program with Kevin Snyder, Game of Logging Instructor from Northern Tier Hardwood Association
  • 4pm-5pm – Roundtable Discussion led by Jen Campbell and Lydia Freethy
  • 5:30pm – Appetizers

  • 9am-11am – Creating Wildlife Habitat with PA-DCNR Bureau of Forestry
  • 11am-12pm – Forest Health: Invasive Plant ID and Control with Kimberly Bohn from Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay (Lecture portion)
  • 12pm – Lunch
  • 1pm-3pm – Forest Health: Invasive Plant ID and Control with Kimberly Bohn (Field portion)
  • 3pm-4pm – Deer Herd Management with Devin Schappert from Blooming Grove Hunting and Fishing Club
  • 4pm – Roundtable Discussion led by Jen Campbell and Lydia Freethy
  • 4:30pm – Retreat Graduation and Wrap-Up
  • 5pm – Depart
