Local Community Leaders Fostering a Sustainable Future
Co-owners of the Settlers Inn and Ledges Hotel in Hawley, PA, Grant and Jeanne Genzlinger, present a check to Executive Director Sue Currier of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy for contributions collected through the Green Lodging Partnership.
The Genzlingers are fully committed to sustainability and to investing in their local community. Settlers Inn is a restored Arts & Craft Lodge with a farm-to-table restaurant, and Ledges Hotel, located on a river gorge overlooking Wallenpaupack Creek, combines modern style through adaptive design and historical preservation of the historic O’Connor Glass Factory which operated there in the 1890s. Actively involved with the Conservancy for many years, Grant is Vice President of the Board of Directors, and Jeanne is a committee member.
As Jeanne Genzlinger explains, “The Green Lodging Partnership Program is a natural fit for us. Our focus on being sustainable and on the preservation of this beautiful region has been part of what we do for many years, and we are delighted to help assure that our region is always a place people want to come and enjoy.”
As two of the original Green Lodging Partners in 2012—and members of the original planning committee for the initiative—Settlers Inn and Ledges Hotel have collected more than $10,000 through voluntary, $2-per-stay contributions from their guests to date, which has been donated to the Conservancy to support its land conservation mission and the future of the Upper Delaware River region.
The Conservancy thanks the Settlers Inn, Ledges Hotel, and all of the Green Lodging Partners for their commitment to conserving our lands, waters, and sustainable local communities.
